About Us

The Center for National and Regional Integration Study (CeNRIS) is a local, not-for-profit civil society organization established on June 21st, 2019. The management of the Center, which comprises the chief executive director, its deputy, and heads of departments, preserves the highest executive authority on the operational issues of the Center. Primarily focuses on national integration within Ethiopia and regional integration among the societies and states of the Horn of Africa region in general.
The Center targets and works on advocating peace and harmony, democratization and inclusiveness, and policy relevant research and projects on cross cutting issues at national and regional levels. Center for National and Regional Integration Studies aims to compliment the national and regional level efforts being made towards building inclusive, democratic, harmonious, and socio-economically integrated societies and states both nationally and regionally. CeNRIS is governed by the Board of Directors, which preserves the highest authority in the organizational hierarchy.
CeNRIS aspires to see the peoples of the Horn of Africa region live in greater harmony and meaningful integration.
CeNRIS works to advance the cause of greater harmony and integration among the peoples of the Horn of African countries. ​

Meet our Team

Dr. Ibrahim Mulushewa

Executive Director

Ibrahim Mulushewa holds a PhD in History and brings extensive experience in civil society initiatives and dialogue facilitation. He served as a lecturer at Dilla University from 2010 to 2011 and worked for an international television channel focused on African issues. An expert in inter-community dialogue, secularism, and historical narration, Ibrahim is recognized for his insights on Ethiopian politics and culture, contributing to various media outlets in the region. He has authored a book on history and co-authored a work on secularism in Ethiopia. As Executive Director, Ibrahim oversees project management and strategic direction, driving our mission to enhance understanding and collaboration within the community.

Mohammedawel H.

Project Coordinator

Mohammedawel H. is a Project Coordinator with a Master’s Degree in Development Anthropology. He previously served as Head of Department at Bilalul Habeshi, a local NGO in Addis Ababa, from July 2021 to August 2023, focusing on community empowerment. In September 2022, he worked as a consultant for MERQ Consultancy PLC on the EPI-Mapping Project, where he assessed public policy impacts and prepared policy briefs to enhance community participation in governance. Additionally, he was a lecturer at the University of Gondar from September 2007 to August 2019, where he taught anthropology and sociology, led community service projects, and contributed to curriculum development
